This is the 2nd volume of a trilogy on the track record of FDR as a war leader during WWII focusing on one single year 1943.
Nigel, using 12 events in 1943, beginning with the Casablanca Conference in Jan and ending with the invasion of Salerno in Italy in Sep, contends that FDR was a brilliant leader who held the Allies together while constantly battling Churchill to resist Churchill’s ill-thought-out schemes. While one may disagree with such a black and white assessment, Nigel has presented facts to support his assessments. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the role played by FDR in winning WWII, even if one disagrees with the assessment of Churchill.
