Beautiful book – Grand Canal, Great River: The Travel Diary of a Twelfth-century Chinese Poet

This is a very interesting diary of a journey undertaken between July to Dec 1170. The famous poet Lu You was assigned to take up an administrative post in Sichuan. So, he set off from his home near Shanghai for this 1800-mile journey. He used the Grand Canal and the Yangzi river. Along the way, he kept a detailed diary with observations of famous sights and the persons he met. The book is illustrated with many beautiful photographs and vivid commentary.
