‘O Horrable Murder’ is a well-written slim book on King Charles I fight with Parliament, his imprisonment, his last days, trial, execution, and burial. For a more detailed study of the trial and in particular the life of a lawyer named John Cooke who was given the brief to prosecute Charles I do read The Tyrannicide Brief an excellent book by Geoffrey Robertson.
