A useful book – The War That Killed Achilles: The True Story of Homer’s Iliad and the Trojan War

Iliad ended with King Priam retrieving the body of his beloved son Hector from Achilles and the subsequent burial ceremony inside Troy. The subsequent well – known events like the fate of Troy, the trickery entry into Troy by the Greeks inside a wooden horse and the death of Achilles by an arrow shot at his heel by Paris are actually not mentioned in the Iliad. This useful book by Alexander tells us that these stories were subsequently filled in by other myths known as the Trojan War poems of the Epic Cycle.

If you are interested in the above this is a useful book. Alexander, like in her excellent book The Bounty, has shed light on the little-known parts of the story of Troy.
