This book by Farrukh Husain (published in 2018) could not have been more accurate with the dramatic collapse of the government installed after the invasion by the US, and the evacuation of US embassy staff by helicopters on 15 August 2021.
Afghanistan has been the graveyard of invaders from the British to the Russians and now the Americans.
This excellent book narrates the First Afghan War. Husain has mined well the Afghan sources. His book is indeed a major contribution to this area of history.
Highly recommended to read to complement the perspectives presented by William Dalrymple in his Return of the King.
