The 1982 movie Gandhi was a phenomenal box-office success. It earned USD 128 million on a production cost of USD 22 million. (p 222).
This 1982 book narrates the tremendous difficulties Richard Attenborough and all who supported the film project had to overcome to make this movie.
The film was conceived in 1962 by Motilal Kothari. It was only in 1980 that the shooting started due to problems associated with financing, script, and Indian government approvals. Along the way, many supporters like Nehru passed away. (p 7 and 201)
This book has beautiful pictures of the movie. A gem.
