Cameron Highland – Part 1

Cameron Highlands was till the year the 2000s arguably the most quaint and charming of the 4 hill stations of British Malaya, now Malaysia.

Due to lax control by the powers that be, excessive and ugly concrete structures have sprung up to destroy the serenity of Ringlet, Tanah Rata, Brinchang, and even the far north to Blue Valley.

I used the phrase ” the far north ” as a homage to the classic diary journal kept by the Haiku master Matsuo Basho when he 1689 trekked from old Edo (now Tokyo) up to the northern wilderness of Honshu, Japan. This journal has been published as The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
