A Stranger in Tibet is a fascinating book on the journey of a Japanese Zen monk into forbidden Tibet in 1900. He was the first Japanese to enter forbidden Tibet.
Bought in Kinokuniya in Sogo, KL on 1 January 1995 this book is a gem.
The Japanese in Tibet is a book also by Scott Berry. Bought from a 2nd handbook shop in Charing Cross Road, London on 21 June 2009, this book chronicles the exploits of several Japanese who stole into Tibet pre-1950.
Tibet is a beautiful forbidden land. When I visited Tibet many years ago, it had yet to be invaded by tourists and Chinese migrants.
