4 Nov is undoubtedly the most significant centenary for 2022.
On this date 4 Nov 1922, Howard Carter discovered stone steps. Stone steps in the Valley of the Kings meant a tomb.
He immediately notified his patron and sponsor, the 5th Earl of Carnarvon. On his arrival, the tomb was opened.
The tomb had not been plundered! It revealed immense funerary treasures still intact. The most famous is the gold funerary mask which I have had the pleasure to see on all 3 tours of External Egypt since 1990.
The tomb belongs to a minor Pharaoh King Tutankhamun.
Howard Carter announced this major discovery to the whole world standing on the grand staircase of the Winter Palace hotel, Luxor.
