Susan Naquin is an American professor of history at Princeton University.

She specialises in late Imperial China history. Here are 4 of her books.

In The Millenarian Rebellion in China, she covers the 1813 uprising by religious sects calling themselves the Eight Trigrams.

The rebellion involved simultaneous uprisings in several cities in northern China. An attempt was also made to seize the Forbidden City in Peking.

By using over 400 confessions from captured rebels obtained through interrogation by Ching officials mandated by Emperor Chia Ching, these personal accounts reveal the religious beliefs and everyday lives of the participants.
