Churchill

Tariq Ali, Clive Ponting, Geoffrey Wheatcroft

Winston defends the actions of his people to extreme inexactitude.

One extreme example is when he was asked whether the Government was condoning slavery of Chinese laborers in the Transvaal, Churchill replied:

The conditions of the Transvaal ordinance … cannot in the opinion of His Majesty’s Government be classified as slavery; at least, that word in its full sense could not be applied without a risk of terminological inexactitude.

In these 3 books, he is called out. All three books show blind heroes- worship is not appropriate.

Tariq Ali pulled no punches. One may agree or disagree with him. His book catalogs the many racist acts and statements. His sources are wide-ranging.
