This is a vivid memoir of life during the Cultural Revolution in China. Written in simple English it brings home, sadly, the futility of Chairman Mao’s attempt to reorganize Chinese society which resulted in severe hardship to family members. The author’s love for his mother shone like a beacon in this memoir.
