Mary Margaret Kaye was a British writer. Born in Shimla, India in 1908, her most famous book is The Far Pavilions which she published as MM Kaye.
I read The Far Pavilions in my lower teens circa 1978. It made a big impression on me. The setting in British India was grand and evocative.
This is a picture book edited by Larkin. It has many historical prints as well as original paintings by MM Kaye herself. It’s a pity it’s only a slim book, has no index or contents. One wonders how an editor can be so absent-minded.
Readers should also see the movie of the same name. It had many famous stars.
