KKS in Patriots and Pretenders, 2011 published, has an interesting theory of the patriots and pretenders who won independence for Malaya.
Unfortunately, this slim book of 128 pages is rather thin on evidence to support his contention.
In particular, he has not considered The Making of the Malayan Constitution [ 2002] and The Alliance Road to Independence [ 2009] both by Joseph M Fernando.
In these two books, Fernando has put forward a cogent case that it was the alliance between UMNO and MCA that won independence.
KKS states that the Reid Commission suggested that the special rights of the Malay should be reduced after a certain period of time and that the proposal for 15 years by the legislature was opposed successfully by UMNO. [ p 8].
Fernando provides a more nuanced narrative. He said MCA agreed. [ p 88 The Making of the Malayan Constitution].
