Before the 2-volume biography of Lim Kit Siang by Kee Thuan Chye, there were two biographical sketches of the opposition leader based on questions and answers.
Ooi Kee Beng’s Lim Kit Siang: Defying the Odds (2015) is an updated version of The Right to Differ: A Biographical Sketch of Lim Kit Siang (2011).
The 2011 edition is based on an interview by Ooi of LKS on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Lim Kit Siang. It comes with a documentary DVD, A Malaysian Dream.
Dato’ Ooi Kee Beng’s books tend to be brief and merely scratch the surface of his subjects. I wonder why.
