This trilogy by the late Jan Morris is a masterpiece in writing. She (or he) had distilled the sources well to give us a brilliant narrative of the Victorian Age. I am amazed at the quality of the chosen anecdotes. She spans the globe from Canada to New Zealand.

Roy reads very well. His diction is clear and pleasant to the ear.

I would recommend going for the unabridged CDs. It is time well spent.

The sun never sets on the British empire, due to its size around the world. Or as the Indian wit would say, God does not trust the English in the dark.
