More Christmas Crackers 1980- 1989 by John Julius Norwich is a compilation of 10 years of annual literary anthologies that he sent to his friends from 1980 to 89, in lieu of Christmas cards.
There are many gems here to satisfy the diverse interests of readers.
I enjoy in particular his selections on Dylan Thomas, William Pitt, Edward Gibbons, Virginia Woolf on Paradise Lost, Nelson’s prayer on the morning of Trafalgar, and the effect of petting a baby’s head. I wonder if this is the reason for a good friend RV’s current predicament.
