Escape from encirclement

The Long March has achieved mythical status in Chinese history.

80,000 men, women and children trekked for one year and 4,000 miles to escape encirclement by Chiang Kai Shek’s armies. Fewer than 4,000 survived.

Ed and Andrew retraced the route in 2002. Dean focused on the 30 women who made the journey.
